The Foundation Child and Burn supplements the treatment of children with burns. For example, special training game material was developed for them and by means of video, among other things, the changing of bandages can be explained to parents. For patients who were dismissed from hospital recently, or less recently, the foundation organizes special vacation camps.

The Skin Federation Association
The Skin Federation Association was established on 13 November 1991. The federation is an umbrella organization, which expresses the cooperation of 18 societies of skin patients in the Netherlands with a total of approximately 15,000 members. These societies look after the interests of patients with specific skin conditions or of patients for whom skin problems are part of the syndrome.

The European Federation of Associations of Burned Persons was born in March 2003 when 12 European Burn Survivors Associations joined forces in Dreux, France. The aims of the Federation are very clear! EFAB's aim is to promote, develop and implement the following by all medical, paramedical, legal and psychosocial means:

  • contribute to the defence and recognition of burned persons' legal and social rights;
  • help out the medical body, healthcare and assist institutions in providing the best quality care and support;
  • promote and assist professional rehabilitation;- organise and participate in prevention actions;

The Alisa Ann Ruch Burn Foundation derived its name and inspiration from an eight-year-old child, Alisa Ann, who was fatally burned in a common backyard barbecue accident. A toddler and her slightly older brother were admitted to the St. Andrews Centre for Plastic Surgery and burns with horrendous injuries following a fire at their East London tower block home. The consultant burns surgeon on call that night in November 1994 managed to save their young lives, but questioned how they would cope mentally and physically with the years of surgery requied to rebuild their bodies. His conversation with a colleague in the unit turned to work being carried out in America with burns victims and the pair decided to find out more about what could be done for their young patients.

The American Burn Association and its members dedicate their efforts and resources to promoting and supporting burn-related research, education, care, rehabilitation, and prevention.
