Treatment of burns

25 years ago, the emphasis of treatment was mainly on keeping burn victims alive. As a result of today's improved treatment methods, burn victims now more often survive. The emphasis of the treatment in the past few years has increasingly been on the quality of the eventual result, the quality of the scar.

The research department of the Burns Foundation applies itself, together with the three Burn Centres, toward research into and improvement of the treatment of burns.

The information you can find here addresses among other things research, treatment methods, the consequences of burns and the criteria for referral to a Burn Centre.
